Tinkoff bank announced about the launch payment service Tinkoff Pay. With it, the bank hopes to facilitate shopping by eliminating the need for us to use a bank card as such and leave our payment details somewhere using a mobile application. However, in its current form, Tinkoff Pay is still not quite what you all thought.

Because the service has nothing to do with contactless payment in offline stores. When exactly this will happen is not reported, but most likely it will not take much time. The fact is that Tinkoff already has the necessary developments. Few people know, but until recently, the bank offered contactless payment through the application, but then turned it off.

Contactless payments through the Tinkoff app bank have been available to Android users for several years. If my memory serves me right, this function was launched back in 2016, and turned off either last or the year before. Why is unknown. However, the very fact that the bank had the appropriate service makes us think that it will not take much time to restart it.

In fact, Tinkoff wants to make a cross-platform analogue of Apple Pay in Russia. The bank has planned a large-scale expansion of the capabilities of its payment service, planning to equip it with support not only for online and offline payments, but also with the function of paying for subscriptions, the ability to use it to authorize on sites, as well as receive increased cashback and buy goods in installments.

Is it good? Certainly good. Tinkoff Bank, unlike the same Sberbank, did not fall under US sanctions, which means that there will be no restrictions on the operation of its payment service in Russia. Therefore, Tinkoff Pay will be able to compensate disabling NFC payments in SberPaywhich suddenly stopped working after the imposition of blocking sanctions by the United States and still have not resumed work.
