Apple has reportedly commissioned Korean manufacturer LG Innotek to mass-produce front-facing cameras for the iPhone 14. According to the latest information, this will be the first time in iPhone history that a Korean-origin supplier has taken on such responsibility.

LG Innotek will also be responsible for supplying Apple with iPhone 14 main camera parts.

Initially, the Korean manufacturer received an order for the supply of components for the iPhone 15, but according to ETNews, Apple pushed the deadlines quite a bit. Apparently, the reason for this decision was the problems that arose due to the use of camera components made by Chinese suppliers during the quality testing phase.

At the moment, the Californian giant has two suppliers for front cameras: LG Innotek and Sharp. Orders are said to be shared between the two manufacturers, but nothing is said about the proportions.

The iPhone 14 is expected to be released this September, so by the end of the year we will see how Apple’s partnership with LG Innotek in the production of camera components will improve image quality.
