Tonight is a grand event for global astronomy and celestial bodies. Black holes are being discussed all over the world tonight, and astronomers have released the first ever photo of the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy, according to the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Located at the center of the Milky Way, it is the supermassive black hole of our own galaxy. This photo was “taken” by an international research team organized in cooperation with the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) through a network of radio telescopes distributed around the world. Because black holes don’t emit light, we can’t see the black hole itself, but the glowing gas orbiting gives a signal of its presence: a faint central region (called a shadow) surrounded by a bright ring. The (radio) light shown in the photo is caused by the powerful gravitational bending of the black hole, which is more than four million times the mass of the sun. According to reports, the black hole Sgr A* is more than 1,500 times smaller and more than 1,500 times lighter than the main body M87*, which has previously released the first black hole photo of mankind, but the two look very similar. .
