The role-playing game “Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song” comes to the current consoles and other systems. To mark the announcement, Square Enix released a trailer showing the graphical improvements.

17 years ago, Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song was released for the PlayStation 2 – but only in Japan and North America. This is a remake of the SNES title released in 1992. Square Enix has now announced a remaster for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC and smartphones.

The plot revolves around eight protagonists who take up the fight against the dark god Saruin. For this they travel through the world of Mardia. Which story you want to experience is up to you. No matter who you play as, the choices you make will affect the world around you.

The gameplay focuses on a turn-based combat system and non-linear exploration. Just like in the other “SaGa” offshoots, there is no collection of experience points. Instead, the player has to improve their skills, which depends on certain combat actions.

Also included is the well-known soundtrack by Kenji Ito. However, Tsuyoshi Sekito and Nobuo Uematsu each record a song.

Improved graphics and more

Expect the usual improvements of a remaster. These include improved graphics, new user elements and more modern gameplay. Square Enix will probably announce more details in the course of the year.

The publisher did not announce a specific release date, but it should be ready in winter. Now take a look at the trailer:
