With the announcement of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Senior Encounter Designer Patrick Wren took a look back in time. As he noted, multiplayer shooter Star Wars: First Assault was canceled by Disney less than a day before its official reveal.

As part of this year’s “Star Wars Celebration” at the end of last week, “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” was finally announced as the official successor to “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S .

On the occasion of the official announcement of the sequel, Respawn Entertainment’s Senior Encounter Designer Patrick Wren looked back on his career so far and spoke about the multiplayer shooter Star Wars: First Assault. “First Assault” was created for the Xbox 360, among other things, and was probably canceled by Disney in early 2013 after the company had completely taken over Lucas Arts.

A move that, according to Wren, caught the developers behind Star Wars: First Assault off guard. Accordingly, the multiplayer shooter was set less than a day before Disney’s planned unveiling.

Wren commends its current development team

“Man. The Jedi Survivor announcement means so much to me. It killed me that a Star Wars game was canceled less than a day before it was announced ten years ago. That sucked. I’ve been waiting for this moment and couldn’t have asked for a better game to work on with such an amazing team,” Wren continued via Twitter out.
