Banjo-Threeie. What if…?
Banjo-Kazooie was released in 1998 for Nintendo 64, Banjo-Tooie we got two years later. Following the acquisition of Microsoft, the last (?) Banjo game from Rare became 2008’s Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. A third who took “some” liberties with the concept and who did not get the same praise as his predecessors.
A new fan-made trailer pretends to be Nuts & Bolts did not happen when the game (of course!) is called for Banjo-Threeie. The same colorful platform adventure, a wintry hub world, temple ruins, Mumbo Town, pixelated map “racing” and ballooning are some of the pieces that the trailer tickles us with.
Whether a new Banjo-Kazooie one day becoming reality is, as you notice, highly unclear. It should also be said that today’s Rare is not exactly the same Rare as just over 20 years ago.
The iron gang behind Banjo-Kazooie by the way, went on with life, and gave us Yooka-Laylee.
