Russian law firm Chernyshov, Lukoyanov & Partners claims that Apple has stopped Apple Pay in Russia,violated the rights of Russian consumers.
According to Reuters, the lawsuit seeks compensation of 90 million rubles (about 8.199 million yuan, $1.26 million),Compensation for “mental damage”.The lawsuit also seeksRestore Apple Pay service. The law firm has announced a class-action lawsuit in early April.
IT House has learned that users of Russian banks have not been able to use Apple Pay since February 2022, although a bug that allowed them to continue to use the service through gift cards at the beginning has also been fixed by Apple.
According to TASS, senior partner Konstantin Lukoyanov said his case would be based on how the rights of the Russian people were “unilaterally” and “unreasonably” violated by Apple. Lukyanov said Apple’s move must be seen as “intentional moral harm” to the Russians.
