An artwork for the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has appeared on Steam. This provides a basis for speculation and hopes for a return of the franchise on the popular distribution platform.

Is Modern Warfare 2 coming to Steam?

For seven years, Call of Duty on PC was available exclusively on Activions battle.net. So a reunion on Valve’s PC client would be something very special.

The artwork, sparking new speculation, was posted on Reddit by Kalinine. “It shows up at the bottom of the DLC page for some Call of Duty games like Black Ops 3,” the user wrote when asked by another Redditor.

As quickly as it appeared on Steam, it was withdrawn and replaced with a blank image – which, of course, only adds to the rumours. Luckily for us, Kalinine uploaded a screenshot of the artwork before it disappeared.

Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare sequel is set to release on October 28th. A trailer without gameplay and the game’s logo is all that is known about Modern Warfare 2 so far.
