While Kevin Feige said this week at the CinemaCon that he would then go on a “creative retreat” to plan the next 10 years of Marvel Cinematic Universehe will no doubt also have to rethink the plans for the film Fantastic Four announced end of 2020. Indeed, we then learned that it would be directed by Jon Watts, who was behind the recent trilogy of feature films Spiderman (Homecoming, far from home and No Way Home). Well, as we learn Deadlinethis is no longer the case.
Jon Watts has decided to retire from his role as director of Fantastic Fourbecause he needs a break from getting away from the realm of superheroes after having chained the films Spiderman. In short, nothing very serious for the person concerned and his departure is a priori amicable since Kevin Feige and the co-president of marvel studios Louis D’Esposito said:
Collaborating with Jon on the Spider-Man movies has been a real pleasure. We were eager to continue our work with him to bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU, but understand and support his reasons for stepping away. We are optimistic that we will have the opportunity to work together again at some point in the future.
The director also spoke:
Doing three Spider-Man movies was an incredible and life-changing experience. I am forever grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years. I hope we will work together again and I can’t wait to see Fantastic Four’s incredible vision come to life.
Necessarily, if Sony Pictures intends to propose in the years to come a new trilogy with theSpider Man as already mentioned, he will probably have to find a replacement for him. Whether or not his recent work has been appreciated will not leave anyone indifferent, and we are very curious to know who will succeed him in directing The Fantastic Fourwhich had no advanced date anyway at the latest news.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is available on Blu-ray on Amazon at the price of 21.99 €.
