Today we have been to eCarExpo at Friends Arena and it was really fun! A bunch of reports will come over the weekend because it showed not only old cupboard food but a lot of new. Perhaps the biggest was the world premiere (in physical form) of the Audi A6 e-tron Avant concept and the European premiere of Polestar 02. So o as in Oskar and then a second, as in oxygen. The car has been shown digitally and at a private small event in LA, but now it was time for a real premiere.

I got to talk a little with the designer Maximilian Missoni about how they have thought and it gets a little extra interesting when it is such a, sorry, damn nice thing. When Volvo and especially Thomas Ingenlath set the design for Volvo, it felt like they had found the right thing, not only in what they saw but also in how Thomas and others at Volvo talked. Maximilian comes from Volvo, where he was head of exterior design under Thomas, so the step may not be that far to Polestar. It has been a bit unclear how they should differ between the brands, but it feels to Maximilian that you have found a good combination of doing your own thing but still remembering your heritage.

Polestar O2 is a concept and it is not the idea that it will become a reality. A lot of other models are ahead. At the same time, you want to quarrel with Porsche and how do you not do the best thing than let go of something that quarrels with 911? Whether the O2 can do that remains to be seen, but the platform and technology are there and will become a reality so this car can become a reality if Polestar wants it. And you released the crazy boiler Polestar 1 so drive just drive.

O2 stands for oxygen, of course, and this is partly because it matches some marketing trick about environmental friendliness, but also because the car spins the air without a larval roof. And for that to happen, the larval drone that lies on top of the tailgate goes up in the air.

But it’s nice. Deliver now Polestar.

Bil, Feature,

polestar, o2
