New information on the rumored RDNA2 refresh: Apparently Asrock also wants to get involved, as a recent submission to the EWG is said to prove. According to the listing, the company is currently working on several cards, including a Radeon RX 6950 XT OC Formula.
Allegedly, the RDNA2 refresh will come at AMD in May. This was actually predicted for April 20th or 21st, but was then postponed to May 10th. On this date, refreshed versions of the Radeon RX 6900 XT, 6700 XT and 6600 XT cards are scheduled to be released. AMD is still keeping a low profile, but there is already some information about custom models from board partners. Apparently, the Asrock company is now joining them.
Asrock submits model list to EWG
The information comes from a listing that Asrock submitted to the European Economic Community regulator. While these submissions often include models that will never be released, the Asrock company is notorious for typically only submitting model names for graphics cards that are actually in development.
According to Asrock’s list, the manufacturer is currently working on two RX-6650-XT models and two RX-675-0XT versions. In addition, there is also an entry for a possible Radeon RX 6950-XT OC Formula in the listing. Asrock could soon launch a successor to the RX 6900 XT OC Formula, which was officially announced almost a year ago. Further details about the possible new cards and a release date are not yet known.
Recently there was a rumor that the possible Radeon refresh is not about alternative models, but about a complete replacement. Board partners are said to focus only on manufacturing the updated RDNA2 models RX 6650 XT, 6750 XT and 6950 XT in the future. The previous models Radeon RX 6600 XT, 6700 XT and 6900 XT would be discontinued and gradually disappear from the market.
