The Microsoft documentary Power On: The Story of Xbox has won the People’s Voice award at the Webby Awards.

With the documentary Power On: The Story of Xbox, tribute was paid to the console from Microsoft for its 20th anniversary last year. In a way that seems to have appealed to a wide audience.

This year the Webbys were awarded for the 26th time. The Webbys are an award for internet content in the following categories:

  • websites and mobile sites,
  • Video,
  • advertising,
  • Media & PR,
  • social,
  • apps and software,
  • games,
  • podcast,
  • Virtual & remote.

There are two prizes up for grabs in each of these categories, the official Webby Award given by a panel called IADAS (International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences) and the popularly voted prize, the Webby People’s Voice Award.

The Microsoft documentary, which deals with the emergence and history of the Xbox, was able to win one of these awards. The Webby People’s Voice Award in the Video category, with the subcategories Documentary (Video Series & Channel).

According to the New York Times, it is “The Internet’s highest honor”the internet’s highest honor to win such an award.

A look at the documentation is worthwhile for every Xbox fan or gamer in general to get an insight into what is happening behind the scenes.
