Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia going involve IT specialists serving sentences in correctional centers to work remotely for commercial companies. Deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Alexander Khabarov said during the strategic conference “Import Independence” in Novosibirsk that a similar proposal was addressed to the department in some regions of the country.
However, Khabarov notes, there are not so many such specialists. However, entrepreneurs who work in this area come to the Federal Penitentiary Service with this initiative in a number of territories, in a number of subjects. The department is still considering this possibility, and if it is in demand, and this is likely to be the case, it will begin to attract specialists in this field and will not force them to work in any other industries.
The deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service adds that, according to the law, a convict in correctional centers can work within one region, but the remote work format will allow working for a company in another subject.
