The expectations of Star Wars Obi Wan Kenobi are huge. But currently it looks as if the new Disney Plus series could actually meet the expectations of the fans. The return of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen to the Star Wars universe has received its first reviews and so far the ratings are absolutely convincing.
How good is Obi Wan Kenobi?
At the time of this writing, Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi enjoyed an average rating of on the Rotten Tomatoes platform 88%. This is the average of 33 previously published reviews of the series, which since May 27, 2022 available on Disney Plus. So far, only the first two of the six episodes produced have been published. The average audience score for the series is currently somewhat reserved 72%. on Metacritic the ratio is similar:
While the critic rating at 80 out of 100 possible points is on average, you have to look at the average user score with a rating of 6.6 to be satisfied. In particular, the acting and the pacing stood out for the trade press in the first two episodes. For example, Rolling Stone says that by playing Ewan McGregor, Obi-Wan Kenobi now brings a lot more of what Alec Guinness brought with him as Uncle Ben.
IGN notes that the Obi-Wan series may not have reached the level of The Mandalorian in terms of action, but could definitely become one of the best stories in the franchise.

At the same time, there are also critical voices that don’t see the Kenobi series as something really special. For example, The Guardian writes: “Did this series have to be produced? no Is their existence a sign of creative exhaustion? Allegedly. But is she making the most of a thankless task? Fortunately yes.“
