IT House reported on April 28 that Xiaomi recently officially joined the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) board of directors, becoming the newest member of its board of directors.

CCC is a global, cross-industry organization dedicated to setting standards for smartphone-to-car connectivity solutions. CCC has more than 100 member companies, including automakers such as General Motors, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and smartphone makers such as Google, Apple, and Samsung, as well as a large number of automotive tier-one suppliers and software developer.

As a smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi currently ranks among the top three in the world in terms of market share (2021 data). Its MIUI is also one of the most popular mobile operating systems. According to official data, Xiaomi’s AIoT platform has connected more than 400 million devices.

Xiaomi has cooperated with a number of car companies and has implemented the digital car key function on Xiaomi mobile phones. The development of standards for digital car keys is of great significance for the adaptation between smartphones of different brands and cars, which can simplify development and realize more functions.

As one of the earliest digital car key solutions, the CCC digital key specification uses NFC technology to realize the digital car key function on smartphones and other devices, and subsequently released the CCC3.0 digital key specification including BLE/UWB technology. CCC attaches great importance to user privacy and data security, and Xiaomi has been tracking the development of the CCC digital key specification since 2020, and selected it as one of the Xiaomi car key solutions.

After being invited to join the CCC board of directors, Xiaomi will more deeply participate in the construction of CCC standards, implement the latest industry standards, further promote the technological innovation of digital car keys, protect users’ privacy and data security, and improve user experience.
