The Moscow Arbitration Court denied Apple’s appeal against the decision and order of the FAS dated April 26, 2021, and ordered the company to pay the appointed amount in the amount of 906 million rubles.

In April 2021, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service fined Apple 906 million rubles for violating antitrust laws – the iPhone manufacturer abused its dominant position in the iOS mobile app distribution market.

The FAS came to this decision after Apple was recognized as a monopolist in August 2020 due to a complaint from Kaspersky Lab. Kaspersky Lab’s claims against Apple stem from outrage over the 2018 removal of all parental control apps, including Kaspersky Safe Kids, from the App Store ahead of the release of iOS 12 with Screen Time.

Apple tried to appeal the fine, but the court of first instance upheld the position of the FAS.
