Cordovan the Community Manager has just announced on the forums, the MacOS client of the Lord of the Rings Online will no longer be taken into account by customer service from August 25, 2022.

It’s a long agony for this MacOS client, which while it benefited from a regular follow-up when the game was released, was ported in 2019 to a standard client emulation solution based on Wine, to finally no longer able to be played by macOS users who installed Catalina and later versions.

Unfortunately, the only fallback solution offered by the studio is that of dual booting on a Windows partition. This marks the final end of this client even as the Lord of the Rings Online multi-platform support announcements by its new owner EG7 could leave room for doubt.

The official announcement:

MacOS client deprecation

For several years, players were able to play Lord of the Rings Online on pre-Catalina versions of macOS and had limited support from Standing Stone Games, but we will be officially discontinuing the macOS client soon. Players who wish to play LOTRO under MacOS will be able to use a dual boot solution via Windows. After August 25, 2022, Customer Service will no longer be able to provide support for the macOS customer. Download links will continue after this date, however client functionality will no longer be supported.
