In February came the first information that Microsoft wants to place stickers on the desktop. I still don’t understand the meaning, but good. Don’t complain until you know all the details.
The desktop stickers are already present in Windows 11 22H2 (22621), as Albacore has discovered. All you have to do is enter a group policy in the registry and after a restart, the “stickers” like Microsoft translates the desktop stickers are already included in the context menu of the desktop.
If you click on it, you get a selection of stickers that you can (partially) place. During the selection, the taskbar and the desktop icons disappear. If you have made a selection, the sticker is framed and you can change the size and position. Currently still a little gimmick. But let’s see what Microsoft intends to do with it and see what else comes to light in Windows 11 22H2.
And that’s how it works:
- Windows key + R type regedit, start it and go to the path
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftPolicyManagercurrentdeviceStickers
- Stickers will certainly not be there, so right-click in the left directory tree -> New -> Key with the name stickers invest
- In the right part of the window then New -> New DWORD (32-bit) value with the name EnableStickers invest
- Double click and set the value to 1. (Value = 0 or Delete Entry = Disabled)
