Valve has released an update for the Steam Deck that brings various useful fixes and improvements, including the fan noise issue.
The sometimes loud fan noise of Valve’s handheld PC Steam Deck has already caused some owners to put on makeshift hand or insulating tape, but now, after the last beta fix from the official side, another improvement has appeared with an update of the Steam Deck client and SteamOS version 3.2 .
According to the changelog, a new OS controlled fan curve has been added to “Improve experience in low usage scenarios and adjust fan response to different scenarios and temperatures“. Meanwhile, the old version of the fan curve is still available and can be enabled in the system settings.
According to a first test by theverge.com After the update, you can actually hear a significant improvement in terms of noise development in various games and also when the menu screen is idle. A comparison to before and after the update was also published by a Twitter user.
Remote Play Together and more
Another major innovation is the Remote Play Together collaboration feature, which is now fully functional on the Steam Deck. This includes hosting and joining game sessions. This can be tried out for supported games via the quick access menu. There are also a number of small features that have been added and various bug fixes. The complete changelog can be found translated on the second page of this message.
