The toy manufacturer Mattel signs a new film adaptation for one of their cult toys.

Mattel does more than toys and seriously launches into the cinema. After announcing in 2019 a live-action film dedicated to Barbie, the most famous doll in the world, with Margot Robbie (Birds of Prey) in the main role, it is the turn of another of their product to receive its own movie.

After a next-gen video game, toys Hot Wheels will arrive at the cinema soon and their film is now in preparation. It will be produced by big names in the film industry. JJ Abrams and his production company bad robot join forces with Warner Bros. to offer the film adaptation of miniature cars that everyone knows.

A Fast and Furious for children?

The announcement of this film was made througha press release shared by Mattelwhich for the moment does not give any details as to the narrative framework of the future film.

However, the toymaker promises a demonstration “of the most beautiful and shiny cars, monster trucks and motorcycles in the world” in a film that will target Hot Wheels fans.

Young and old children will then be delighted to rediscover the world of toys that they loved so much when they were little, in an action film that wants to be a kind of Fast and Furious for those nostalgic for childhood.

The statement also adds that “fans of all ages will embark on the ride of a lifetime thanks to the incredible talent of JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robots who joins us and Warner Bros to turn the legendary franchise that is Hot Wheels into history sensational for the big screen”.

Mattel recalls that other productions from Mattel Films are in preparation and will feature other licenses and cult products such as Master of the Universe, Polly Pocket and even the timeless card game UNO.

No release date planned, but the film will arrive just in time to take over when the saga Fast and Furious will come to an end with its 11th and final part in a few years.
