Gameloft and disney obviously get along well: in addition to disney speedstormthey plan another free-to-play inspired by the fairytale worlds of the entertainment giant: Disney Dreamlight Valley. It will be an experience between life simulation way sims and adventurewhere we will have to restore a once idyllic village now overrun by the Nocturnal Thornsfollowing a disaster dubbed Oblivion.
Several heroes and villains of disney and Pixar will be there to help us in our quest between collecting resources, exploring, customizable constructions, activities such as fishing, gardening and cooking.
WHAT IS DREAMLIGHT VALLEY?
Disney Dreamlight Valley is a future free-to-play life-simulation adventure game that puts YOU on a journey to restore a once idyllic, but now desolate village overrun by Night Thorns after of a mysterious event called Oblivion. With your avatar, you’ll have to build relationships with an array of Disney and Pixar heroes and villains to uncover their lost memories and solve the mysteries of the valley, while leaving your mark on the land by customizing the village of your dreams and bringing out your Disney style or your passion for Pixar.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE VILLAGE HERO
To unlock the secrets of Dreamlight Valley, you’ll visit different kingdoms inspired by a wide variety of Disney and Pixar movies, but your journey will begin with a quest from none other than Merlin! Although you won’t pull swords out of the rock, you’ll need to be equipped for the challenges ahead. Fortunately, the valley is full of materials! You may even have to help out a certain grumpy trader who will be happy to give you resources for your adventures (for a few coins, of course).
LIVE IN THE MAGIC
In Dreamlight Valley, your adventures will be as limitless as your customization options! You will be able to express your passion by creating the Disney and Pixar outfits of your dreams, or by using the vast library of clothing in the game. Your house and your village will not be limited to a single layout either: you will be able to improve many elements of your dream world by collecting new items and buildings for your villagers. The game will also feature an ever-changing roster of Disney and Pixar-inspired furniture and clothing, from Mickey Mouse-themed urban outfits to Frozen-inspired vintage kitchens, and more.
WHERE WILL YOUR ADVENTURE TAKE YOU?
From Frozen Heights to Tranquil Meadow, you will find and cultivate resources that will help you rebuild the village and serve your new neighbors. As you unlock new biomes, you’ll meet new friends along the way, and you can even take them with you to experience their unique story arcs. Activities such as fishing, gardening and cooking will take on new meaning when you share these experiences with your favorite characters, such as cooking a delicious meal with Remy from Disney and Pixar’s Ratatouille or going fishing with Goofy.
The concept is strongly reminiscent of Disney Magic World 3DS and Switch, but with more advanced graphics and features. On the other hand, even if the content will evolve with additional missions and customization options over time, and will certainly integrate microtransactions, the experience does not seem to be more multiplayer-oriented. Disney Dreamlight Valley is planned for Mac, PC via SteamI’Epic Games Store and the Microsoft StorePS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch for 2023, but it will launch in Early Access from summer 2022 for buyers of a Founder’s Pack and subscribers to Game Passwith exclusive rewards for players of theEarly Access.
