Here you can check out a home-built monitoring system that keeps track of where in the owner’s garden his dog poops.

The system uses cameras and computer vision to detect when the dog poops and then memorizes them. The system also has a laser pointer that can point out where in the garden there is dog poop, which the owner can then go and pick up.

Caleb Olson, who develops what he calls “Robot Laser-guided Poop Patrol”, says he is considering developing the system into a public service where others could connect their surveillance cameras to be able to find dog poop in the garden. Whether that will ever be the case remains to be seen.
