IT House May 26 news, Sony’s latest PlayStation Plus service has been launched in some parts of Asia this week, but some users found that users who purchased PS Plus subscriptions at a discounted price will face higher fees.
For example, someone at NGA found that if you have a PS Plus sub that stacks up to 2024 (probably because you took advantage of the discounts offered by PlayStation earlier) and want to upgrade to a higher tier PS+ membership, you’ll have to pay a full two years of Extra in one go or the Premium subscription fee to repay any past discounts. This was interpreted as Sony’s recovery of upgrade fees from users who had previously slashed wool.
However, soon after this problem broke out, Sony revised the upgrade policy. Yesterday, the user found that the upgrade can be done normally.
The official Ask PlayStation Twitter account tweeted that it was a “technical error” that resulted in players being chased back for their previous discounts, and those affected would receive points as compensation. They have fixed this bug now, so subsequent users in other countries will not be affected.
Sony’s new membership service PlayStation Plus will be launched on May 24 (Official Guide), the Asian region including Hong Kong will be the first to launch globally.
Sony said that the PlayStation Plus membership service combines PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now to provide three membership plans,Bringing more choice and value to customers around the world: Basic, Upgraded and Premium (Premium available in markets that don’t support streaming).
