According to a new report, two earthquakes recorded on Mars last year were the two strongest measured since NASA’s spacecraft InSight began recording such in 2018.
The two March earthquakes were registered in August and September last year, respectively, and both had a magnitude of 4.2. The most powerful March earthquake previously measured occurred in 2019 and had a magnitude of 3.7.
During its more than 1,200 days on Mars, InSight has recorded over a thousand Martian earthquakes of varying magnitude. NASA has uploaded some audio clips from how Martian earthquakes sound and some of them can be listened to here if there is interest.
