Streaming service Apple TV+ has launched an animated series called Speed Racer, based on the classic 1969 manga.
Variety and Deadline are reporting that JJ Abrams, best known for starring in the final Star Wars trilogy, will executive produce the series. The production company Bad Robot is responsible for the production.
Written by Ron Fitzgerald (Westworld, Friday Night Lights) and Hiram Martinez (Snowpiercer, Get Shorty), who previously worked on genre shows.
Details about the series have not yet been disclosed.
