If you follow Nintendo of America’s Twitter account, you may today have seen a tweet from none other than Shigeru Miyamoto. The news he wants to share, however, was all the gloomier, as he announced that the upcoming Super Mario movie has been delayed.
It would have premiered on December 21, but now the global release has been postponed until the spring of 2023, or more precisely April 7 in North America and April 28 in Japan. However, he said nothing about when we will see it in Europe. He has made the decision in consultation with Chris Meledandri at Illumination, which is the studio that works on the film.
The film received some attention last year when it turned out that it will not be Charles Martinet who lends his classic voice to Mario, but Chris Pratt, known from the Jurassic World films and the role of Starlord in Guardians of the Galaxy. Other famous names in the cast include Jack Black, Anya Taylor-Joy and the big favorite Seth Rogen.
