iPhone sales this year will not exceed 220 million
In the country where the lion’s share of the iPhone is collected, the coronavirus is raging again. In such conditions, sales of smartphones and their production volumes could not help but fall. But Apple was an exception, and in the first quarter of this year, iPhone sales showed growth. At the same time, the concern from Cupertino does not intend to force the sales plan this year.
The message came that in 2022 Apple intends to produce the same number of iPhones as last year. Supply chain sources say that Apple has ordered components in order to assemble about 220 million iPhones and this is the level of 2021. Analysts have previously spoken out in favor of the company’s 2022 target of 240 million smartphones.
The war in Ukraine, the worst inflation in decades, and problems in the supply chain are all factors that negatively affect the market and will clearly cause sales to fall. That is why a number of companies, including Apple, had to adjust their own production plan downwards. Recall that Strategy Analytics analysts previously stated that in the second quarter of this year, the volume of deliveries of mobile devices will decrease by 2%. This will affect all companies and the revision of Apple’s plans looks like a logical and predictable step.
Overall, 2022 should not be the worst year for Apple and it will repeat last year’s result. After a slight drop in demand for the iPhone, the company expects a sales boom after the autumn release of the iPhone 14 series. This will allow the company to compensate for a possible negative result in the second and third quarters of this year.
