For some strange reason, the iPad is still missing some native iOS apps, like the Calculator and Weather apps. While there are no hints that the iPad will finally get a Weather app this year with the upcoming iPadOS 16, this new concept shows exactly how the app should look on the big screen.

The concept, created by designer Timo Weigelt, gives us an idea of what the iPhone Weather app will look like on the iPad. This isn’t the first time someone has conceptualized an iPad weather app, but Weigelt said most of the concepts don’t follow Apple’s design guidelines, making them unrealistic.

That’s why Weigelt came up with this concept, which is largely based on what the iPhone Weather app currently offers. And to be honest, it definitely looks like what Apple would do.

Because the iPad has a larger screen, the app will display more information at the same time. For example, in landscape orientation, the Weather app will display a sidebar with all of the user’s favorite cities, as well as a more detailed forecast. But the designer also came up with some new ideas for the app.

This concept brings a “wiggle mode” to the Weather app so that users can rearrange the dashboards as they see fit. Weigelt also suggests that the app should have weather notifications and a macOS version.

With iPadOS 15, Apple has finally allowed users to add a full weather widget to their iPad home screen. However, once you tap it, the widget will redirect you to The Weather Channel website in Safari. Perhaps this year the company will finally give iPad users what they really deserve.
