A small message on the side, which may have been lost in all the information from the WoW Patch 9.2.5 test server: Just because WoW Patch 9.2.5 was released on June 1, 2022, does not mean that season 4 for WoW: Shadowlands starts. According to the developers of the MMO, it will start “later this summer”.
In the past few weeks and months, all sorts of new features of the upcoming content updates for the online role-playing game could be tried out on the publicly accessible WoW test server. And this resulted in a mishmash of different mini-contents that made it difficult for players and testers to tell which parts belonged to WoW Patch 9.2.5 and which belonged to Season 4 of Shadowlands.
There’s only real clarity now that we know that patch 9.2.5 will be released on June 1st, 2022 – but this will NOT start season 4. In other words: features like the fate raid and world bosses, improved loot from all Shadowlands raids, buying raid items from cartel dealers for the cartel’s confusing dinar, affixes for raids and Mythic+, none of that is there yet.
WoW Patch 9.2.5 in early June 2022
Wow (buy now ) Patch 9.2.5 allows cross-faction group play, brings a few new tasks for blood elves and dark iron dwarves and brings about the Enigma Arena as well as a few bug fixes and comfort changes, as you can read in the patch notes. By the way, cross-realm Mythic raids are also possible with the update, apparently for both factions. Perhaps this is an indication that the Hall of Fame may have had its day with its separation into Horde and Alliance.
Season 4 “later this summer”
However, there is no start date for Season 4 of Shadowlands yet. In announcing the release of Patch 9.2.5, the developers only note the following: “Season 4 will debut later this summer.” In view of the fact that summer theoretically doesn’t start until the end of June, “later this summer” might even mean July or August.
