[Update 26.04.2022]: The KB 5011831 has now been released by Microsoft for all made available for download. The version number has been changed again compared to the first version

The version number is now Windows 10 19044.1682, Windows 10 19043.1682 or Windows 10 19042.1682. We have adjusted the manual downloads below.

[Original 15.04.2022]: In addition to Windows 11, Windows 10 has also received a new optional (non-security update). KB 5011831 fixes a number of bugs and also comes with an improvement.

As with Windows 11, improvements have been made to the maintenance of the Secure Boot component of Windows. The update is currently being distributed in the RP channel and will be distributed later (if everything is ok) to everyone. PS: We already have the first ISOs.

Known issues from KB5011831

  • After installing this update, when connecting to devices in an untrusted domain using Remote Desktop, connections might fail to authenticate when using smart card authentication. You may get the prompt “Your credentials didn’t work. The credentials needed to connect to [Gerätename] used did not work. Please enter new credentials.” and “Error trying to sign in” in red. This issue is addressed using Known Issue Rollback (KIR).

Fixed issues by KB5011831

  • We’ve changed the Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) registration timeout from 60 minutes to 90 minutes for hybrid Azure AD-joined Autopilot scenarios. This also fixes a race condition that throws an exception on timeout.
  • We fixed an issue that causes a remote desktop session to close or become unresponsive while waiting for the Accessibility Shortcut Handler (sethc.exe).
  • We fixed an issue that was delaying OS startup by approximately 40 minutes.
  • We fixed an issue where execution policy settings aren’t returned correctly from the registry.
  • We fixed an issue that causes Internet Explorer to stop working when you copy and paste text using an input method editor (IME).
  • We fixed an issue that caused some users to see a black screen when logging in or out.
  • We fixed an issue that causes Kerberos authentication to fail and the error is “0xc0030009 (RPC_NT_NULL_REF_POINTER)”. This error occurs when a client machine tries to connect to another machine using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) while Remote Credential Guard is enabled.
  • We fixed an issue that prevents you from changing an expired password when signing in to a Windows device.
  • We fixed an issue that could cause Windows to stop working when you apply a Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) policy that doesn’t require a restart.
  • We fixed an issue where copying the security portion of a Group Policy to a computer might fail.
  • We fixed an issue that causes the KDC (Key Distribution Center) code to incorrectly return a “KDC_ERR_TGT_REVOKED” error message when shutting down the domain controller.
  • We fixed an issue that could result in graphics processing unit (GPU) load balancing not working as intended via Remote Desktop.
  • We have corrected an issue that prevents the Microsoft RDP client control, version 11 and later, from being instantiated within a Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) dialog.
  • We fixed an issue that could cause a Microsoft OneDrive file to lose focus after you’ve renamed it and pressed Enter.
  • We fixed an issue that causes the News & Interests panel to appear even though you haven’t clicked, tapped, or moused over it.
  • We fixed an issue where the Shift KeyUp event isn’t propagated to an application when using the Korean IME.
  • We fixed an issue that might occur when you use Netdom.exe or the Active Directory Domains And Trusts snap-in to enumerate or change name suffix routing. These procedures can fail. The error message is: “There are not enough system resources to complete the requested service.” This issue occurs after the January 2022 security update is installed on the primary domain controller emulator (PDCe).
  • We fixed an issue where the wrong IME mode indicator is displayed when the Font Mitigation policy is enabled.
  • We fixed an issue that causes the root domain’s primary domain controller (PDC) to generate warning and error events in the system log. This issue occurs when the PDC incorrectly attempts to scan only outbound trusts.
  • We have corrected an issue affecting an SMB (Server Message Block) multichannel connection that might generate a 13A or C2 error.
  • We fixed an issue that occurs when you map a network drive to a Server Message Block Version 1 (SMBv1) share. After restarting the operating system, you can no longer access this network drive.
  • We fixed an issue that causes virtual machine object (VCO) password settings to fail on a distributed network name resource.
  • We fixed an issue that corrupts a pool when a client-side caching (CSC) cleanup method fails to delete a created resource.
  • We fixed an issue that could cause the server to hang because the nonpaged pool is growing and consuming all memory. After a restart, the same problem occurs again when you try to fix the damage.
  • We’ve reduced the overhead of resource contention in high input/output operations per second (IOPS) scenarios where many threads are competing for a single file.
