According to Mark Gurman, Apple is in the process of deploying “Tap to Pay” in its American stores. As a reminder, this function allows you to receive payments directly from your iPhone by transforming it into a small TPE. Customers can pay with their phones, Apple Watch or with a bank card in contactless mode. Announced in February, Apple has not communicated an official launch date for Tap to Pay.

Some time ago, we saw a first demo in the Apple Park store in Cupertino. The journalist from Bloomberg tells us in a tweet that this function will be deployed to other stalls from today. There will surely be a delay before all Apple Stores are equipped.

Tap to pay is currently only expected in the United States, which is a shame. It will allow small merchants to collect payments without having to go through external hardware. This feature requires an iPhone XS or higher and the latest version of iOS.

For Tap to Pay, Apple has pulled out all the stops by signing a first contract with Stripe. In April, we learned that the Dutchman Adyen had also signed with Cupertino.
