In the source code of the new “Call of Duty: Vanguard” season, data miners claim to have found interesting details about “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”. Among other things, this is about a possible beta and the different editions that are to be offered for the release of the new Infinity Ward shooter.
Last Tuesday evening, Activision not only gave us the official key artwork for the upcoming shooter “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”. In addition, it was announced that Infinity Ward’s new project will be released for consoles and PC at the end of October.
Shortly after this announcement, data miners took on the source code of the third “Call of Duty: Vanguard” season and want to have discovered interesting details about “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” in it. Among other things, the data miners report here indications of an open beta, although it is still unclear when this will start and what content is involved in detail.
The whole thing shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, however, since the multiplayer of “Call of Duty” has always been thoroughly tested in a beta before launch in recent years in order to offer the smoothest possible gaming experience for the release.

Just like in previous years, several versions of the shooter will be released when the new “Call of Duty” title goes on sale. In the case of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the Standard Edition, the Cross-Gen Bundle, and the Vault Edition, which will give pre-orderers access to a closed beta that will take place on PlayStation Network, among other places.
According to the dataminers, the slightly more expensive Vault Edition should also have the following content on board:
- Battle Pass (1 Season) + 50 tier skips
- Red Team Operator Pack: Ghost, Soap, Price, Farah
- FJX Cinder gun safe
- Ten hours of double experience points & Ten hours of double weapon experience points
- Ghost Legacy Pack: Twelve Operator Skins & Ten Weapon Blueprints
Since the information provided by the data miners has not yet been confirmed by Activision or Infinity Ward, it should of course be used with the necessary caution for the time being. All we know so far is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on October 28th, 2022.
The official gameplay reveal could come in June, according to unconfirmed reports.
