Some 63% of French voters have cast their ballots so far in the decisive run-off election between incumbent President Emmanuel Macron and far-right challenger Marine Le Pen. The Interior Ministry reported a turnout of 63.23% by 5 pm (1500 GMT). That means turnout so far is slightly lower than in the first round of voting a fortnight ago, when 65% had cast their ballots by the same time of the day. Sunday’s turnout is also slightly lower than the in the last run-off between Macron and Le Pen five years ago, when turnout had reached 65.3% by the afternoon.
