The government of the Russian Federation agreed on an unscheduled increase in pensions, the minimum wage and the living wage by 10%. However, the final decision is up to the president – he can both veto the decision, and increase or decrease this value. It is reported Vedomosti with reference to three anonymous sources close to the discussion.

The unscheduled increase in the minimum wage is associated with high inflation. According to Rosstat, in 2022 it will be 17.5%. The reason is sanctions and the suspension of supplies to Russia.

The size of the minimum wage is determined by each subject of the Russian Federation independently. However, it cannot be lower than 13,890 rubles. It is this amount installed in most subjects of the Russian Federation. The highest rate in St. Petersburg is 21,500 rubles. In Moscow, a little lower – 21,371 rubles.

The cost of living in Russia is even lower. The average value for the working population is 13,793 rubles, for pensioners – 10,882 rubles, and for minors – 12,274 rubles.

The average pension is difficult to determine. However, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov estimated this value at 18,984 rubles.

The President of the Russian Federation may announce a possible increase in the minimum wage, living wage and pension at a meeting of the Presidium of the State Council, which will be held today, May 25.
