In June, Season 1 of Battlefield 2042 will start after a delay and now the developers have given a new foretaste via video and blog entry.

After the most recent update 0.41 this month, developer studio DICE is in the preparations for Season 1, which apart from the month of June does not yet have an exact release date. As part of this, it was announced, among other things, that the Hazard Zone game mode (“Danger Zone”) will remain part of the gaming experience, but will no longer be actively developed, apart from fixing critical errors and “strange behavior” that may still occur in the future shall be.

There should no longer be any new “experiences or content” for the mode, and the upcoming maps that will be published on the occasion of the seasons should not support the danger zone. The developers had “great ambitions and high hopes for this new Battlefield experience” during development, but one has to admit that “in Battlefield 2042 didn’t find the right home” and focus and energy could be put to better use in more popular modes.

Preview of Season 1

With the next update at the beginning of Season 1, there will be a new specialist, new weapons and vehicles and more weekly missions, as well as an expansion of the “portal” gaming experience, in addition to a still unknown map. In addition, optics and sound are being revised by specialists, as well as animations, gunplay and weapon balancing.

Existing maps will also be overhauled, with the Kaleidoscope (Season 1) and Renewal (Season 2) maps getting more cover and flanking positions, among other things, while paying attention to bringing capture points closer and breaking some lines of sight on the maps. The video below also provides an overview.

A total of four seasons are planned for Battlefield 2042, each with a new specialist and new maps, weapons and gadgets. There will also be a Battlefield Battle Pass for the first time, which aims to give players the opportunity to earn new gameplay items that the developers say are also included in the free tiers, as well as new cosmetic items in both the free and also in the premium level.
