The date for the end of the Bethesda Launcher is set: May 11 is the end; the handover starts on April 27th. If you want, you can move your content after May 11th, but operations will stop on May 11th.

After a delay, it’s now official: The Bethesda launcher will end on May 11th. Microsoft had announced that the launcher would be discontinued after the Zenimax takeover. Games are migrated to Steam. Customers can move their accounts from April 27, but it should still be possible to move after May 11. Any credit remaining in the Bethesda Launcher will also be transferred to the Steam Wallet.

The Bethesda account will remain in place, along with the content and services associated with it. This ensures that you can continue to use this even after the changeover; in games you have to log in with this account. If possible, savegames should be transferred automatically. It will not always be possible, however, and an FAQ will be published on April 27th that will go through all the steps. Apparently, Wolfenstein: Youngblood is the only title where game progress cannot be transferred.

It remains to be hoped that the changeover will go through with fewer problems than many other transfers. One or the other Minecraft player will remember the change with shivers. By the way, if you have duplicate games, you should consider moving them to a new Steam account.

The step is somewhat interesting on the part of Microsoft and raises the question of how other projects will continue. Of course, since Mojang accounts are also being converted to Microsoft accounts, this raises the question of what will happen to Battle.net in the distant future after the acquisition is confirmed and completed.
