Russian esportsmen may be given a deferment from the army. About it reported President of the Federation of Computer Sports Dmitry Smith after a meeting of the State Duma working group on eSports.

It was also proposed to organize an out-of-competition selection for universities for athletes who showed high results in international competitions.

“We have developed a whole package of proposals to support esports,” says Smith. “Now there is pressure, many athletes are trying to poach. We are not saying that all esportsmen should not serve, there will be a delay, but then, when the time comes, let them serve in a specialized company. Fine motor skills are important there, and in the conditions of modern weapons, where decisions need to be made in tenths of a second, they can bring benefit and maximum effect to the homeland.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Pirog notedthat supporting young athletes is very important.

“The most important thing, it seems to us, is that esports are young guys who need to be given the opportunity to realize themselves in Russia. These are future high-level specialists, IT-specialists.

As a rule, young people, if they are not provided with some conditions, if they are not comfortable, go abroad. We must make every effort to support them so that the guys stay here and can realize themselves.”

Pirog said that at present there is no talk of any specific bills to support e-sports, since this issue needs to be worked out.
