Knowing the air quality has become essential for many people sensitive to pollution (especially inside buildings) and allergies. The Norwegian manufacturer Airthings offers a range of sensors to meet this need.

Between fine particles, atmospheric pollutants or even carbon dioxide, the quality of the air we breathe is deteriorating. And that’s not going to get any better with global warming and rising pollution levels. Moreover, it is recognized that the air breathed indoors is of lower quality than the air outdoors.

Against allergies and indoor pollution

More and more people who are most sensitive to air quality want to know the air quality in their home or workplace. And for good reason: one in four French people suffers from seasonal allergies according to Health Insurance, and the frequency of these allergies is constantly increasing. Air pollution is even responsible for one in ten deaths in Ile-de-France, according to Airparif and the Regional Health Observatory.

That’s why Airthings is launching three new sensors. The top of the range from this Oslo-based company is the View Plus, a box equipped with a screen that monitors indoor air quality (radon, fine particles, CO2, humidity, temperature, volatile organic compounds, atmospheric pressure) . The device is powered by batteries or via USB, it integrates Wi-Fi and transfers its data to a mobile application. The model costs €299.

The Pollution View focuses on particulate matter and its volume in the home. It is equipped with PM2.5, humidity and temperature sensors and allows you to keep an eye on the level of ambient pollution and to check the correct operation of the air purifier. Count 199 €.

Finally, the View Radon specializes in calculating the level of radon, a radioactive gas resulting from the disintegration of uranium and radium present naturally in the ground and rocks. It can bind to aerosols in the air and, once inhaled, settle along the respiratory tract causing them to be irradiated.

The sensor warns of exposure to the carcinogenic gas of radon and it goes further, offering control of humidity and temperature and thus preventing mold, dust mites, skin irritations and the spread of viruses also allowing improve sleep and productivity. This model is sold for 199 €.
