The analysis company Canalys has published a new one report over the mobile market in Europe during the first quarter of the year. The figures show that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has had a negative effect on the market, with a total decline of ten percent from 46.4 to 41.7 million shipped telephones.
The major Android manufacturers Samsung, Xiaomi and Oppo all saw reduced sales, while Apple had a – admittedly modest – increase from 8.8 to 8.9 million ships shipped compared to the same period in 2021. The iPhone’s share of the market was 21 percent against 19 percent last year.
Among the major Android manufacturers, only the newcomer Realme managed to grow during the period, with a 177 percent increase from 800,000 to 2.1 million units. Smaller manufacturers that are lumped together in a “other” category together had 27 percent lower sales, but what it looks like for each individual smaller manufacturer is not clear.
