Android smartphone users — and only them since the Pixel Watch won’t be compatible with the iPhone — will be able to sport Google’s all-round smartwatch this fall. But what product will they have on their wrists? It is still mysterious, the search engine not having extended on the technical characteristics of the device.

We must rely on rumors to lift the veil on the specifications of the Pixel Watch. It should work with an Exynos 9110, a Samsung chip dating back to 2018. A co-processor would offload certain tasks from the chip.

As a reminder, the Wear 4100+ chip from Qualcomm, which equips a lot of connected watches, embeds a companion processor for all that is management of “always-on” functions (continuous heart rate monitor, sleep monitoring, alarms, etc.). It is therefore not surprising to see Google taking inspiration from this combination for its Pixel Watch.

The device should also carry 32 GB of storage, the same capacity as the recent Apple Watch (the Series 3 is content with 8 GB). A priori, for Wear OS, this will be a first: the platform’s watches have a maximum of 16 GB. Enough to store a lot of songs from YouTube Music and Spotify.

In terms of RAM, again the Pixel Watch could do more than other Wear OS models with a RAM envelope greater than the 1.5 GB of the Galaxy Watch 4, according to 9to5Google. Will Google go up to 2 GB of RAM? The Apple Watch Series 7 has 1 GB of RAM.

Finally, the Pixel Watch should recharge on a magnetic base, like its competitor from Apple. It is Compal – one of the main suppliers for the Apple Watch – which would take care of the production of this accessory, whose cable would end with a USB-C connector.
