Sina Technology News Beijing time on April 24 morning news, according to reports, Jack Dorsey (Jack Dorsey) is no longer the CEO of Block. At least he no longer uses the title.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday,Dorsey has changed his title to Block Head & Chairperson, The Block (formerly Square) said. Block updated its articles of incorporation to reflect Dorsey’s new role, removing the company’s requirement to have executives as CEO and president.
This is another intersection between Dorsey and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is trying to buy the Twitter company Dorsey co-founded and once helmed. Last year, Musk proclaimed himself the title of “Tesla Tech King,” but he remains CEO. Musk later said his CEO title was “a fictitious title.”
Dorsey made similar comments back in 2012, when he tweeted: “Titles like ‘CEO’ get in the way of doing what’s right. Respect those who ignore titles and fight for what’s right .”
Block said the company changed his title on April 20 “at the request of Dorsey.” In Webster’s online dictionary, the word “blockhead” is defined as “stupid person.”
In 2009, Dorsey co-founded Square with Jim McKelvey. The company has mostly focused on making payments, but has recently made inroads into the crypto market, mostly through its cash app. In December last year, the company changed its name to Block. The company said Square had become synonymous with the seller’s business of selling goods, and that “rebranding the company” created room for further growth. “
