NAS bouquet

First off, a few general notes on the NAS. What is it and who needs it? It’s a real little computer, more specifically a server, that comes with tons of handy features. The small device fills the gap between a self-setup home server in the form of a conventional PC and a USB hard drive that is attached to the computer or router. Of course, a system that you put together yourself is always more flexible in terms of hardware and software and certainly more extensive, but also significantly more complicated, expensive and power-hungry.

Such a NAS is a compromise between all these properties, so it is not only relatively efficient, but also relatively easy to use. Not everyone can or wants to set up a conventional PC as a server from scratch if, in addition to memory management, it should only offer backups, its own cloud or even a simple game server in the home network.

So the real added value is not in the network storage itself, but in the operating system, with which all sorts of things can be done. This can be conveniently operated via the browser on any end device with a screen. Let’s start briefly and concisely with the most useful functions of such a NAS.
