Want to tidy up the browser on your Mac or fix some of the problems you’re experiencing when browsing websites? Read on to find out how to clear cache on Mac, as well as history and cookies in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.

This is a simple cache clearing process on Mac in Safari as well as third party browsers such as Chrome and Firefox. Although the menu bar button for Safari is labeled Clear History, it also clears cookies and cache.

In Chrome and Firefox, you have more granular control over what data you delete.

How to Clear Cache on Mac

Safari

Open Safari In the menu bar (top left of the screen), click History. At the bottom of the menu, select Clear History. and cookies from Safari Click “Clear History” for the last time. Along with clearing Safari’s history, this will also clear your cookies and cache. Keep in mind that this means you can log out of websites, etc.

Now look to the bottom of the menu and click “Clear History…”.

To completely clear history, cache, and cookies, click the dropdown and select “all history”.

Google Chrome

For Google Chrome on Mac, click Chrome in the menu bar (upper left corner). Select Clear Browsing Data. Select a time range or All Time.

For Firefox on Mac, click “History” in the menu bar (top left corner of the screen). Click Clear Recent History. Change the time frame as needed. Choose what data to delete. Click OK.
