Google has now released two new awards that will make it easier for users to find legitimate and secure Chrome extensions. Something that was first noticed by The Verge.
The first award, “Featured”, takes the form of an award rosette and is displayed when an extension “follows our technically best practice and achieves a high standard of user experience and design”. The award is handed out manually by Google itself.
The second award “Established Publisher” is visible in the form of a check mark and applies to publishers who have verified their identity and shown that they follow the user rules for the platform, and have a consistently positive track record without violations of the terms of use. It will thus take at least a few months for completely new developers to be awarded the award.
