Dune: Spice Wars will enter Early Access on April 26th. In the run-up, developer Shiro Games had presented the four factions, the gameplay and the graphic style, now there is important details as an FAQ.

Dune: Spice Wars – price, system requirements

The initial price in Early Access will be €29.99. This price could still change afterwards as more features are added to the game; However, the developer would like to inform you about this at an early stage. The first system requirements are also set and they show that Dune: Spice Wars does not require much space. You need 4 or 8 GB of disk space, plus a minimum of a Core i5, a GTX 1050 and 4 GiB RAM. The title is more fun with a Ryzen 7 with 3 GHz and higher, a GTX 1080 and 16 GiB RAM.

Dune: Spice Wars – Download, Preload, Release Time

The game client itself is said to require a download of 3 GB, which sounds like very little. Therefore there is no need for a preload. As is well known, the game will be released in Early Access on April 26th, at the moment it is not yet known exactly when. However, it is assumed that it will happen in Europe in the late afternoon. More details will be announced shortly before publication.

Dune: Spice Wars – factions, multiplayer

The well-known four factions (Harkonnen, Atreides, Fremen, Smugglers) will be supplemented by at least one more faction in the course of Early Access. Other factions are not excluded, according to Shiro Games there are ideas for many different factions, with even more asymmetrical gameplay, but the community should have a say in which projects are tackled next. And there multiplayer is at the top of the list.
It should appear as part of Early Access, provided that the community prioritizes it. Developers need to do some fine tuning for this, but also add new features, the preparation and prioritization of which will start after the Early Access release. Whether there is a competitive multiplayer is to be decided solely by the community.

Dune: Spice Wars – Mouse & Keyboard Tutorial

The developers make it clear that Dune: Spice Wars, as a pure PC game for the time being, can only be operated with a mouse and keyboard. A 4X game has “a lot of moving parts and interactions, and gamepad support would require a completely different UI to feel good.” Dune: Spice Wars is accessible enough that an integrated tutorial works better than a standalone one.

Dune: Spice Wars – factions and game length

Depending on the faction, you “only” have 5-6 different units. However, since Dune: Spice Wars as a 4X game isn’t just about warfare, even though that’s an important part of the game, economics, espionage and politics are also important. The players should therefore not be confronted with ten or more units, as is usual in a normal RTS. Nevertheless, there are already ideas for further units. A round in Dune: Spice Wars should last 2-3 hours, depending on strategy and difficulty. However, the developers believe that players will find ways to “be significantly faster”, especially when multiplayer is available.
