Konami is Konami. However, the complete company name could soon be different after “Konami Holding Corporation” was previously used.








Konami wants to change the company’s name. However, the planned change is less dramatic than the Computec headline “Konami finally at the end? Publisher wants to abolish names” suggests.

The resolution must first be waved through during the general meeting at the end of June before the change is expected to come into force on July 1, 2022. But which name do you have to remember in the future?

Konami Group Corporation is to be established

Basically nothing changes for you, because Konami remains Konami. Only the official trade name or the formal brand name should be modified. The “Konami Holdings Corporation” becomes the “Konami Group Corporation”if there is actually a change.



But why does Konami want to change the name? The developer and publisher first writes: “Since it was founded, the company has expanded its business as a pioneer in the Japanese entertainment industry and is now active in four business areas: Digital Entertainment, Amusement, Gaming & Systems and Sports.”

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the publisher’s founding, Konami wants to change the brand name in order to “take on new challenges together with the companies in the group and strive for further growth as a sustainable company”.

Further details on upcoming projects were not included in today’s announcement. However, last year did the still unconfirmed rumor the roundthat brands like “Metal Gear”, “Castlevania” and “Silent Hill” should be revived.

Above all, the hype that flared up with Hideo Kojima and the discontinued “Silent Hills” should benefit the latter brand, but the expectations should also be set quite high.
