As Intel said by itself, after they launched Arc game graphics cards, the pattern of the GPU graphics card market has changed, from the original AMD and NVIDIA two hegemony to the Three Kingdoms War, Intel not only has to compete with AMD, AMD and NVIDIA in game graphics hardware Intel is competing, and now they are also preparing to develop a new 3D gaming technology that is even more powerful than the two current ray tracing technologies.

Intel’s project is led by Anton Kaplanyan, vice president of accelerated computing and graphics, who is also a GPU technology expert. He joined Intel last year and was previously the chief scientist at Facebook. He was engaged in research on super neural sampling. He has been developing computer graphics for many years, involving neural rendering, game engines, etc.

However, his most striking experience is at NVIDIA, where he worked for 2 years and 2 months from 2015 to 2017, mainly researching technologies in light pursuit, noise reduction and scaling, during which he published a paper on neural super sampling, Laid the foundation for NVIDIA’s DLSS deep learning supersampling.

Now Intel Corporation,One of the focus of his research on game technology is a new rendering technology, path tracing, which can simulate the physical behavior of light more realistically, which is more advanced than the ray tracing technology currently used by AMD and NVIDIA, and the game picture quality is much higher.

Of course, there are costs. Path tracing technology requires more complex calculations and high performance requirements, and there are very few games currently supported. The demos are also done in games such as “quake II” and “Minecraft”. Software patches allow these games to support new technologies.

In addition to the new game rendering technology,Anton Kaplanyan’s team has also made advances in deep learning techniques that can be used to improve graphics accuracy and performance,Intel’s XeSS supersampling scaling technology is also in this regard, after all, this field is also Anton Kaplanyan’s old business.

Of course, these new technologies will definitely support Intel’s own Arc graphics card, but it is impossible to predict when it will be upgraded. After all, light pursuit is not popular now, and the performance is still not enough.
