Reputation: EA wants to be acquired or merged with a major player

EA also wants to be part of a larger family.

In recent years, we have seen major acquisitions in the gaming industry that we might never have dreamed of ten years ago. Swedish Embracer vacuums the market for both larger and smaller studios, while Microsoft really opened its wallet and bought Activision Blizzard. Most recently, Take-Two bought Zynga and these are just a few examples of what has been going on in recent years.

It has now gone so far that some companies even want to be acquired. According to a report from Puck EA is currently looking for a player to be acquired by or merged with. It should even have gone so far that they were recently close to an acquisition of NBC Universial, but that this deal did not go through in the end. It is also said that they have talked to other potential other players such as Disney, Apple and Amazon, but that so far they have not received a pacifier.

This is of course a rumor and EA feels more like a company that would buy up than be acquired, but considering what has happened in the gaming industry in recent years, anything seems to be able to happen.
