On March 29, it premiered for CNN Plus, but already now the owner company Warner Bros. Discovery has decided to discontinue the new streaming service.
According to CNBC CNN Plus has only attracted 10,000 viewers a day, which is far below expectations.
The service has offered original programs, live broadcasts and interactive programs that differ from CNN’s linear broadcasts, something that has obviously not appealed to viewers.
Subscribers will now get their money back, while CNN Plus employees will have the opportunity to apply for jobs on “regular” CNN.
With CNN Plus ceasing to air on April 30, the head of the service, Andrew Morse, will lose his job at Warner Bros. Discovery.
