Schefter said that it was his “understanding” that Samuel wanted out of the Niners organization in order to return closer to home in South Carolina. “I think one of [the factors] is the fact that he simply prefers to be closer to home in South Carolina, not out west in California,” Schefter explained on NFL Live.
